New Mantra for Me; Maybe for You Too?

Hello all!

While at the Historical Spiritualist Camp, Camp Wonewoc, in Wisconsin, I learned a lot about myself. I did some dealing and healing. I did some soul searching. I opened up more spiritually and professionally. Oh, and I even helped some other people to do the same (I think)! :)

Whether you're a psychic, intuitive, healer, medium, sensitive, or any other type of spiritual person / title, maybe a new matra that I have taken on for myself will help you as well.

I used to get so nervous before readings. (Yes, even though I've done hundreds of them.) The problem was, I was so motivated to give everyone the best possible reading. I wanted to help as many people as possible and be as accurate as possible. Now, this doesn't SOUND like a problem. It's a good thing, right? Well, yes, except that I learned something very important:

One day, my guides nearly slapped me in the face with an epiphany. They told me, "STOP taking responsibility for what comes through in a reading. Stop stressing yourself out. Coming up with the information and the messages is NOT YOUR JOB! You're just the channel. you're just the messenger. You show up and do THAT job, and we'll handle the rest!"

Wow, what a lesson in surrender and letting go of ego. They were right. I took the advice and it made my days up there (doing back-to-back half our sessions) much easier. It also made me a more clear channel, and it kicked up my accuracy even more. It was so freeing to not worry about what I was going to say to people. I took on a new mantra that's been working well for me, and I'll share it with you.

One of my guides said simply, "Open your heart and let God speak." During my meditation before readings, I imagine opening little doors over my heart chakra and I affirm aloud, "I open my heart, and I let God speak."

I'm not the one speaking. I'm not the one that has to give people spiritual insight or information that will help them in their lives. That's The Universe's job. By worrying about whether what I passed along would be good enough, I was doubting my faith. I was doubting the Divine. Duh, how ridiculous! :) I was already doing well, but was so stressed out by wanting to make sure that everything was perfect and that people walked away with what they needed. By learning to surrender to the Higher Powers, I was able to be completely at peace.

People continued to walk away with what they intuitively came for, and even more, and I was able to simply enjoy the process. For this, I am truly grateful.

I just wanted to share this in case there was anyone out there that might be able to learn from it and grow to trust themselves and the Universe's messages a little more.

Love Always,

My Take on Destiny vs. Free Will

I received the following question in an email and thought I would include it and my response in a blog in case others have the same question. In reviewing what I wrote, I did add some more information:

QUESTION: “If you don't mind me asking a question; If nothing is written in stone and we have free will, then why does the spirit tell [us] for example "So-and-so will be married. He is the one!" Then he changes his mind. Well, isn't Spirit suppose to know ahead of time that he changed his mind? It makes me wonder if a reader perhaps can read the energy at that time only…”

MY REPLY: You are asking a SUPER intricate question, and I will do my very best to answer it. I've often thought the same thing. I do know that when we're reading psychic energy, we ARE reading how things are set to be at that moment in time. It's like taking a photograph of your future and describing the details as they are. However, free will does change things. When Spirit gives messages, during mediumship, then I'd assume that, YES, they know how it will play out. So a psychic reads the energy. A medium relays messages from outside sources. A psychic medium, like me, does both. Tricky, huh? LOL

This also brings into play the competition between free will and Destiny. I do believe that some things ARE destined to happy regardless of which road we choose to take to get there (the free will part). Some would say, “Well then that can't be free will if it's destined.” However, consider that we used our free will BEFORE we incarnated to make the decision about what our destiny WOULD BE during this lifetime. So we still had free will, it was simply exercised long before and that option may not be open anymore because we already played the free will card. So we already USED free will in that situation.

Also, sometimes (in a reading) things will feel more set in stone to me, and then I figure that whatever actions were needed to make that event happen have already been taken, and so it's going happen regardless. Whenever something feels LESS set in stone, and I feel like the ball is in one person's court or they have total control, then I have to assume that they have not yet done the actions to set the event into motion. At this point, the outcome is more easily controlled or changed, and that’s, in my opinion, the best time to get the spiritual heads-up.

If we look at it from this perspective, then it may also make it a little easier to understand why Spirit tells us some things and not others. In the case where everything is set in stone or destined, and maybe it’s best for us not to know because there’s not a THING that can be done to change the situation, perhaps Spirit will tell us nothing. Would it do any good to know that you’d be divorced from your husband in three years? Perhaps a three years that WOULD HAVE been good and filled with happy memories would instead turn into a miserable three years of stress, worry, and irritation. The only change then that COULD HAVE BEEN made, would be one that would be harmful to you. I do believe that Spirit and our Higher Selves do offer protection for us against some things in life. For the person who says, “Well, again, if Spirit withholds the information, that is interfering with our free will again.” Okay, fair enough. If that’s not how it works, then perhaps it is our Higher Selves exercising our free will by blocking the reception of such a message. Regardless of how it works, there is protection of our psyche, heart, soul, and future at play.

I even believe that we could take that a step further and say that Spirit may even refuse information based on the fact that we COULD change it, and that the outcome if we do is not in our best interest, and so it’s kept a secret so that we stay out of what’s already in the works. Lastly, consider that we are here to live life. We are here to exist as human experiencing the human experience. If we walked around every day with our plan for that day already laid out in a handy notebook full of which moves to make, which moves not to make, and every event that was on the way, how could we POSSIBLY learn anything? If we can’t learn, how can we grow as humans and evolve as souls? Remember that our spiritual evolution is the goal here. Some information may HELP the evolutionary process, ESPECIALLY if someone is opening up spiritually and energetically to God and the mysteries of the Universe, and maybe that is why some information is more easily accessible than other top-secret files! A last note here: Some things are simply more fun as surprises. Having the ALL the answers could make us miss out on incredible emotions and some of the happiest moments and surprises that await us during our human journey. (Certainly, this doesn’t mean that you won’t have a heads-up about some of those things. You’re exercising free will in asking.) Again, tricky business!

Please understand that this is only one medium’s perspective on all of this (mine). I’ve given it based on my personal beliefs and experiences. I also feel that I was guided in my answer. However, I encourage you to take what I’ve said and explore for yourselves. What do you think? More importantly, what do you FEEL? Psychism and spirituality are not an exact science. These things come to our attention and are integrated into our learning through trial and error. I encourage you to experience and learn with your heart and with your soul rather than trying to rationalize everything with the mind. Not that the mind’s analysis is a bad thing, because it’s not, but just make sure you’re getting BOTH sides of the experience, as balance is key in all things.

I hope this helps.

Love,
Gem

Best & Funniest Singing Psychic Reading EVER!!!

My friend, Cliff, from Apollo Paranormal Investigations does a great job doing an impression of what a singing psychic reading on my radio show would sound like. He cracks me up!!! Check it out:

If this made you giggle as much as it does me (EVERY time I watch it), please pass it along to others. :)
